X0-01 120mm The Ronin Japan 1750 £31.50
The Edo period in sixteenth and seventeenth century Japan was a time of relative peace when the vast armies of samurai were relegated to bureaucratic duties. This was also the time of the ronin, the masterless and dispossessed samurai who roamed the countryside looking to hire out his martial skills. The ronin became the hero of countless tales of bravery and cowardice, loyalty and deceit and remains to this day a mythical figure in popular imagination. The kit depicts a ronin in travelling garb with his shoulder bag, medecine case and spare sandals. He wields a bokken, the wooden sword favoured by expert swordmen.
