X0-02 120mm The Bucaneer 1670 £31.50
In the golden age of piracy, buccaneers were 17th-century pirates who menaced the Spanish possessions in the Caribbean. Originally peaceful French and English hunters from the island of Hispaniola, the buccaneers formed the "Brotherhood of the Coast" to defend themselves when the Spanish tried to drive them out, and moved to Tortuga, where ,with the help of convicts, outlaws and escaped slaves, they could prey easily on Spanish ships. They soon went after bigger prizes carrying out raids on Spanish colonies such as Panama, Porto-Bello and Maracaibo under the leadership of Henry Morgan. Buccaneers were reputed for their cruelty and obeyed no laws except their own.
